After moving to a new town, Linsey Walker discovers a diary of a woman that spans over a five-year period. It documents the woman's life, challenges and changes she went through. Cryptic diary entries make Linsey wonder if the author of the diary could have been the person responsible for a disappearance four decades before. A disappearance that nobody seemed to care about. Linsey is tested to the brink of her sanity, as she pieces together the truth of the decade’s old mystery, then realizes that the man she has fallen in love with is the woman’s son, Payne. Linsey eventually gives him the diary to help him understand the circumstances of his father's disappearance. This puts a strain on their relationship, until he reads the diary.
